Community Action Kit AGAINST Cable PEG Channel Moves

Our goal had been to urge defeat of HB6456 and to repeat our invitation to AT&T and all other interested providers to enter into available non-exclusive contracts with our communities to begin providing video services.  HB6456 became law on January 1, 2007, as Public Act 480 of 2006 (PA 480).  Municipalities, in working with the MML and MTA, worked hard to amend the bill so that it would become less of a business plan for for-profit companies and more like local franchise agreements with protections and services for the public at-large as these corporations utilize the rights-of-way and public easements to deliver their products to market.

We aimed to educate with this web site, but mostly through meetings, email and other correspondence, and whenever invited to testify in committee or in workgroup sessions.
